Product links on this site are search links rather than links to one specific listing. That means you see the current range of options and prices rather than a single product that may be out of stock, rebranded, or superseded by the time you read the guide.

How we pick what to recommend

Recommendations are driven by what the treatment actually requires. When a guide says to use BTI granules for fungus gnat larvae, that is because BTI is what university extension programs recommend for fungus gnat larvae — not because of what any particular brand pays.

We describe products generically (“cold-pressed neem oil concentrate,” “dual-sided yellow sticky traps”) rather than pushing a specific brand, because for most of these treatments the active ingredient is what matters and brand differences are marginal. We have no paid placements, no sponsored guides, and no arrangement with any manufacturer.

We also regularly recommend things you cannot buy from us at all — letting soil dry out, improving airflow, wiping leaves with a damp cloth, or simply leaving a beneficial insect alone. Where the free fix is the right fix, that is what the guide says.
